Output Device Settings

The Output Device is used by the analyzer for wave file playback and for signal generaton.  Since not all DT-9800 devices support D/A operations you have the option of using standard multimedia sound cards.

Click the <Options><Processing Settings> menu (or press F4) and select the "Output" tab to access the output device settings.  You can also click the "Level" button on the Signal Generator utililty to access these settings.

All DT-9800 hardware modules and sound cards that are currently connected to your computer are shown in their respective device lists.

Sampling Rate: specifies the sampling rate used by the signal generator.  During wave file playback the sampling rate specified in the wave file is used instead.

Channels: specifies the number of channels used by the signal generator.  During wave file playback only one channel is used.

Bits Per Sample: specifies the sampling precision used by the signal generator.  During wave file playback the sampling precision specified in the wave file is used instead.

Channel Levels: specifies the output level for each channel used by the signal generator.  This signal level applies to pure tone signal types (non noise).

Output Units: specifies the output level units.  When a sound card is selected as the output device the output units are relative to the full scale output of the card.  When the DT-9800 device is selected the output units can be directly set in engineering units.
